On September 13th, the Church honors St. Marcellus, Bishop of Angers, a holy man of the 5th century. Born in Milan, he left behind wealth and family ties to dedicate himself fully to God. Guided by St. Martin of Tours, he embraced the narrow path of Christian perfection and established a monastery near Angers. Even after becoming bishop, he often returned to this place of prayer. His relics were later enshrined in the Church of St. Martin, where they became a source of miracles and veneration.

His life was recorded by St. Magnus, Bishop of Angers, two centuries after his death, preserving his legacy of holiness and pastoral care. Today, we remember St. Marcellus as an example of sacrifice, devotion, and steadfast faith.
